Customer Testimonials

“Josh is a master of his craft and, more importantly, an all around awesome person.  I have fished with Josh on multiple occasions; solo, with my Dad, and also with my wife. Josh’s ability to transition seamlessly between each angler’s experience level and coach them onto landing fish is nothing short of incredible.  My wife, who was a novice caster when she first walked onto the boat in the morning, was bombing casts out and landing Albie after Albie as the day went on - she loved every minute of it and Josh’s expertise, teaching, and enthusiasm had much to do with that.  If you want a guaranteed epic day on the water and the opportunity to become a better angler in the process, Josh is the man for it. He will put you on fish even on the nastiest cold, wet New England days when the wind is honking and the fish finicky at best. Can’t say enough good things. He is the best. Period.”

"A Full Day Albie Mission..."

"I contacted Captain Josh because I wanted to go on a full day albie mission.  I had fished for false albacore unsuccessfully several times before and knew it might take a full day to get just one of them to eat my fly.  To my surprise I had my first albie in the boat right at sunrise and maybe half a dozen on fly by lunch time.  We then switched gears and absolutely crushed the schoolie stripers for a few hours and we found a nice school of Bonito before calling it a day.  I will never forget fishing with Captain Josh, they guy knows how to get it done!"

"The Mark of a Great Guide..."

"The mark of a great guide is one who can give a great day on the water to both the veteran and the beginner fisherman. Josh can do it all, not only do we have great days but he's been able to get first timer's on fish too. Josh's personality and demeanor make him a great companion on the boat, you'll have a great day.   I can honestly say that some of the best days I have had saltwater fishing in New England are with Light 'N Fly.  I highly recommend getting out there - you just can't beat the Boston Harbor pickup at sunrise!"

"Something Different This Time..."

"I have fished with Captain Josh many times in Boston Harbor over the last few years, I told him I wanted to do something a little different this time.  One of my favorite things about fishing is a new challenge...I met Josh at 5 AM at a rest area off Rt 3 South and hopped in his truck for an excursion down to the Cape with the skiff in tow.  We launched in Barnstable and it was an amazing day.  We caught stripers in every way that you could imagine...while blitzing on the surface at first light, throwing topwaters up in the marsh, and finally sight fishing for them on a big beautiful flat with bonefish flies.  What an amazing day, thanks for everything Josh!"

"Late Season Albie Fever..."

“My buddy had late season Albie fever and then gave me the disease. I had never caught one. Josh told us it was a gamble this late into fall BUT he knew where to look for late migratory false albacore. Local knowledge... We went flying through the fog to that water. On the ride Josh provided instructions of what to look for, how to retrieve, how to handle the runs. We arrived, started blind casting at first as we warmed up and then, visuals on a few hard tails!  Cast like he said. Retrieve like he said. Bam! Then that sweet sound. Don’t try to rush the fish. Tight line. Flexed rod. Stay focused. And the beautiful noise of line peeling off the reel. Josh made it happen. Can’t wait for spring.”

"I had an end of the season fishing crisis..."

“I found Josh via word of mouth through one of my fly fishing buddies who raves about him. I had an end of season fishing-crisis and needed to go out and get bent on a big cow before they all swam South. Josh was responsive via phone calls and texts messages the day and night before we went out, planning the trip was a breeze. I had been tossing the idea of albies vs stripers for a few days before, and Josh was always ready to go and do whatever I preferred. The day we went out we knew we were going to get hammered with some heavy rain, didn’t stop Josh and didn’t stop me. Josh put me on fish from the time we go out to our spot to the time we had to head in for the day. I must have hooked up with 30 small bass, and missed a few big bites, but we were surrounded by fish all day. Josh put me on so many fish I had to force him to take some casts and get in on the fun. Josh was true to his word, extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and passionate about fishing, and more importantly about being a true guide. He his first and foremost a guide, and he does it to a T.  I had a blast with Josh and would recommend him to anyone looking to get out there with a true guide and a great day on the water with passionate fisherman.”
